Shirley Pauline (Wilson) McRaven, 82 years old, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023, after a valiant fight with cancer. She had such a strong will to live. Yet, through her own struggles with cancer and other illnesses, she led by example. There was never a job too large or too small she would not tackle. Momo was a strong, determined, and fiercely independent woman, she was truly extraordinary.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Annie and C.E. Wilson; and daughter, Gayla House.
She is survived by sister, Annette White, of Sherwood; 5 grandchildren, Raven Hardcastle, Blake (Mia) Boveia, Matthew (Nikki) Justice, Alex (Stevie) House, and Samantha (Matt) Hynum; 11 great-grandchildren; and special family member, Marie (H.J) Purdy of Dewitt, Arkansas.
A special thank you to the wonderful doctors and nurses at Carti Cancer Center in North Little Rock, Arkansas and specifically to Dr. Omer Khalil for the invaluable care this past year.
At this time the family has requested no memorial service. Shirley, as selfless as she was, decided to be a part of the Anatomical Gift Program at UAMS. She will be contributing to medical education and research. Like always, putting others before herself.
