Nedra Casey Thompson, 87 of Lonoke passed away on September 8, 2020. She was born on November 12, 1932 in Garber, Johnson County, Arkansas to the late M.E. and Mildred Beasley Casey. Mildred died when Nedra was only 2 years old and she was then raised by her grandparents, A.C. and Susie Beasley.
Nedra graduated at the age of 16 from Clarksville High School. After attending Capital City Business School in Little Rock, she went to work for Commercial Credit Corp. On June 1, 1953 she married Billy Thompson and moved to Lonoke, where she lived the rest of her life. After moving to Lonoke, she worked for Matson Motor Co, First State Bank, Joe Royal Chevrolet. She later retired in December of 1994, after 31 years of service from Lonoke County as Lonoke County Deputy Assessor. Nedra was a member of Lonoke Methodist Church, past president of UMW and past member of Lonoke Lioness Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Billy Thompson, her parents and son, Gary Thompson. Survivors include her sons, Paul (Cynthia) Thompson and Casey Thompson; four grandchildren, Erin Thompson, Rachel Cox, Ryan Thompson and Rebecca Thompson; four great-grandchildren, Gabe, Eva, Connor and Elanor.
As per Nedra’s request, the family held a private graveside burial in Concord Cemetery. Memorial can be made in her memory to Concord Cemetery Fund, 436 Furlow Loop, Lonoke, AR 72086 or Lonoke First United Methodist Church, PO Box 152, Lonoke, AR 72086.
