Lonoke

Jo Ann McConnell was born January 12, 1937 to Henry Curtis Crawley and Martha Blanche Crawley of Sledge, Mississippi. Joann departed this world on August 21, 2019, held and surrounded by her loving family.

Jo Ann was known throughout the community of Lonoke for her various roles in childcare, food service and often through her children and grandchildren, she was known as “Granny”, “JoJo”, or “Mrs. Joann” to everyone. Jo Ann never met a stranger, she always showed compassion to those in need, and she was always there to help in any way possible. Jo Ann was very simplistic in life, never asking for more than she needed, but always willing to give, sometimes more than she had. Jo Ann was often known for her foods, her world class potato salad, her huge cinnamon rolls, and her secret recipes. She loved working in her flower beds and yard, playing bingo, casino gaming, reading books, spending time with family and friends, especially with her great-grandchildren. Jo Ann is loved and will be greatly missed by many.

Jo Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Lucien Hewlett McConnell, her parents Henry Curtis Crawley and Martha Blanche Crawley, her daughter Nancy McConnell-Ostrander, and 11 of her 12 siblings.
