Jack H Fitzhugh, Jr.

June 14, 1952 ~ December 19, 2020 (age 68)

Obituary

A long, long time ago in a place not so far away (namely Scott, Arkansas) a tiny baby boy was born on June 14, 1952, to the proud parents of Jack H. Fitzhugh Sr. and Jewel Maxine Fitzhugh. They named their baby boy Jack H. Fitzhugh Jr.; the name was one of great strength and family honor. As Jack Jr. grew, so did his spirit of excitement, fun, and adventure--keeping his parents on their toes and his siblings entertained. He was the baby brother to Suzanne (Fitzhugh) McLean and the big brother to Lucy (Fitzhugh) Six, Jenni (Fitzhugh) Raines, and Amy (Fitzhugh) Pearson.

It seemed Jack was born a century too late as he truly was a cowboy at heart. He loved everything touching the wild west, including the love for watching westerns and being a member of SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) and the Cowboy action shooting “Outlaw Camp” in Heber Springs, AR. Those who competed with him knew him best as Black Jack Rodes. He loved riding horses, writing songs, playing his guitar and performing for anyone who would listen. He never met a stranger and valued his family and friends as treasures. He was always looking for the next big adventure. During one of his adventures, he met the love of his life, Pamela Boswell and they married on December 20, 1975.

Jack joined the Air Force in 1977 and served his country faithfully for four years--this service produced a passionate patriot for a lifetime. Jack worked for Remington Arms Company in Lonoke for over thirty years, retiring in 2016.

After leaving military life, the happy couple moved to Cabot and raised three children: Jack H. Fitzhugh III, Toby Fitzhugh, and Crystal (Fitzhugh) Regan. During this time, Jack made the most important decision of his life and placed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior and became a faithful member of Mt Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Cabot. After several years serving at Mt Pleasant, Jack and his family moved their membership to New Testament Missionary Baptist Church in Lonoke where they have served in various positions. Some of the many roles Jack held included Sunday School teacher, Awanas Commander, Awanas Leader, mission team member and church van driver. Of all the positions he held, his favorite and most dear to his heart was guitarist and worship team member. His love for his Lord was evident in all that he did. This love being most apparent when he was singing and playing an instrument: his whole face would light up. His smile, pleasant demeanor, and servant’s heart made an impact on everyone he met.

Jack’s love for his Lord was most important, and the love for his family was obvious. He cherished the role of son, husband, father, and grandfather. He was father-in-law to Kathryn Fitzhugh, Renee Fitzhugh, and Shawn Regan. His grandchildren were his absolute pride and joy, as he would follow them around the country attending any event they participated in. The four loving grandchildren are Matt Dillon Fitzhugh (Annmarie), Hannah Fitzhugh, Jewell Regan, and Jackson Regan, Alicia Bernard, and Hailey Carpenter.

Jack took his final breath in this life on Saturday, December 19th, 2020, at 3:45 p.m. after losing a battle with Covid, but his next breath was in glory in the presence of his Savior Jesus Christ! He was preceded in death by his mother Jewell Maxine Fitzhugh and his sisters Lucy Fitzhugh Six and Jenni Fitzhugh Raines.

He will be dearly missed by his many family members, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and scores of friends.

“Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter into rest.”
