Hugh Keller, Jr.

November 9, 1939 — January 31, 2022

Lonoke, Arkansas

Hugh Randolph Keller Jr, went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 31, 2022, at 82 years old. Hugh was born at Union Valley, near the Kerr community on November 9, 1939, to Lola (Woodard) and Hugh Keller Sr. Hugh would go on to pick up his father’s legacy, becoming a successful farmer in the Kerr area and raising a family, achieving recognition as Arkansas Farm Family of the Year in 1975. Through his life, Hugh became a pillar of Lonoke County, including service on the Lonoke County Election Board for 24 years, the Lonoke County Farm Bureau Board of Directors for over 50 years, as Lonoke County Tax Collector for 18 years, as board member of the Lonoke Exceptional School, as a founding board member of the Lonoke County Farmer’s Co-op, as well as being a member of many other civic groups. He was gifted with the ability to make friends anywhere he went and was well liked by everyone he met. Most importantly, Hugh was a Christian, preforming his service to our Savior as a long-standing member of the First United Methodist Church of Lonoke, where he served as chairman of the church board for a period. Hugh always remained a farmer at heart, continuing to work closely with the agricultural community as a crop insurance adjustor for 34 years, helping people in that aspect. No words can convey the positive impact he has had on so many people throughout his life. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, father-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend. His memory will be held fondly and his presence will be missed dearly. Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, Lola and Hugh Keller Sr., one sister, Anna Belle Keller, and one son Hugh Keller III. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Keller, sister, Patsy Keller, son Kirk Keller and wife Susie, granddaughter Mary Hutson and husband Dan, grandsons Hunter Keller and Houston Keller, and great granddaughter Finley Hutson. Hugh is survived by many beloved friends as well. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 3, from 5-7 pm at Boyd’s Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Friday, February 4, beginning at 10 am at the First United Methodist Church of Lonoke followed by burial at Lonoke Cemetery. Memorials are to be donated to the First United Methodist Church of Lonoke, P.O. Box 152, Lonoke, AR 72086
