Obituary

Charles Chambless left his earthly life on Saturday, June 4, 2022. Charles was born on November 26, 1937, in Hope, Arkansas to Edward Lamar Chambless and Helon Fincher Chambless. He was the oldest of three children and was raised in Hope.

Charles began his adult life by attending Henderson State University for a short time.  He then served in the United States Army and was on active duty in Korea during the Korean Conflict. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he signed on with Missouri Pacific Railroad, later known as Union Pacific Railroad, as a conductor on the railroad until his retirement.

Charles’ hobbies included planting and raising a garden every summer, until it got where he could not handle it anymore. His passion was crappie fishing, and he spent many years on the Old River in Scott fishing for them. He was a long-time member of the Old River Fishing Club and served on the board.

Charles was predeceased by his wife Lillian Chambless; son, Chad Chambless and brother, Jerry Chambless.

Charles is survived by his sons, Donny (Kelley) and John Chambless; two grandchildren, Clay Chambless and Lauren Chambless. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Scarlett Gilliam and Wesley Chambless and his brother, Michael Chambless.
