Obituary

Alice “Faye” Merice, 83, of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away at home on January 14, 2023. She was born in Carlisle, Arkansas on March 21, 1939, to the late Bruce and Ollie Raborn.

Glenn Hudson and Faye began their married life in 1958, with Glenn working in the pipeline construction industry. After ten years, Glenn and Faye settled in Yellville, Arkansas, where Glenn formed a residential construction company. They were long-time members of the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church of Harmon.

In 1975, Glenn and Faye began a period of mission service. Sponsored by the Fairview Baptist Church of Little Rock, they moved their family of five to Puebla, Mexico. There they founded Publicaciones Biblicas de Mexico. This non-profit organization printed and distributed gospel tracts they mailed throughout Mexico, Central and South America. They ministered in Puebla until 1987, returning to North Little Rock due to Glenn’s health.

Following Glenn’s death, Faye married William Merice in June 1997, residing in Sherwood, AR. Both worked at Remington Arms in Lonoke. Faye retired from Remington after ten years. Bill and Faye have been faithful members of the Central Baptist Church of Sherwood and members of the Cook Sunday School class. In addition, they enjoyed traveling to visit family, taking cruises, and participating in bus tours sponsored by their church.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Glenn Hudson; and siblings, Dale (Hazel) Raborn, Rachael (Jim) Smart, Doris (Don) Bradley, Clifford Raborn, Carl (Grace) Raborn, Don Raborn, and Ray (Maggie) Raborn.

She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Merice; children, Rick (Carol) Hudson, Tony Hudson, and Jann (Frank) Hart; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sibling, Linda (William) Cochran; in-laws, Lois Raborn, and Mary Raborn; stepchildren, Shawn Merice and Jennifer Merice; and four step-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel in Lonoke, Arkansas with burial to follow at Hazen Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:00AM at the funeral home.
