Walter “Peanut” Harris, age 89, of Lonoke, Arkansas, cast his final line on earth to fish the heavenly waters with the Lord, surrounded by family, on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
Peanut was born September 7, 1936, in Scott, Arkansas. He was a self-made businessman, licensed in masonry and carpentry, and later opened his own custom cabinet shop in Lonoke, Arkansas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Wanda Harris; his children, Jimmy (Michele) Harris, Sharon (Dwight) Baker, and Tanya VanHouten; his grandchildren, Michael Harris and Amber (Rex) Long; five step-grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three siblings. He is preceded in death by his father, Herman Harris, his Mother, Nollie Mae Harris, his granddaughter, Amanda Harris, and three siblings.
Peanut was happiest on the water, fishing for crappie or snagging large catfish. His love for horses ran just as deep, with a special passion for cutting horses.
Peanut was known for his sharp sense of humor and a smile that could brighten your day. Whether he was teasing a friend or cracking a joke, he had a special way of bringing laughter into every room he entered.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Lonoke Nursing and Rehabilitation for their compassionate care during his time at the facility.
Peanut leaves behind a legacy of generosity, humor, and a lasting impression on every person he met.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 18th, at 1:00PM at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke, Arkansas, followed by a memorial service at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to The Gideons International Ministry.
