Sarah Louise Carter Aultman, 92, of Conway, Arkansas, passed away peacefully February 3, 2026 — likely after making sure everything was done her way. Born in Yazoo City, Mississippi, Sarah lived a long, full life and was married to Robert Louis Aultman for 53 years before his passing in 2001. She was preceded in death by her son, David Johnathon Aultman, and was the last surviving member of six siblings — a title she wore with pride.
Sarah was especially proud of her many years working in retail in Lonoke, Arkansas, including Jay’s Supermarket, Goldman Grocery, The Outlet Store, Fred’s, Thriftway Grocery, Brightwell’s Grocery and Harvest Foods. If you needed something, she could tell you where it was, what it cost, and whether you really needed it.
Sarah was a lifelong member of Steel Bridge Baptist Church in Lonoke, Arkansas.
She loved reading, working on puzzles, listening to bluegrass music, gardening, canning vegetables, and making jams and preserves — and if you left her house hungry, that was your own fault. With her deep-rooted Yazoo City, Mississippi vocabulary, you never knew what sort of witty comments were going to come flying out of her mouth. As a mother and grandmother, Sarah firmly believed in discipline and had a wide range of tools to enforce it: belts, flyswatters, switches, or whatever happened to be closest. Friends occasionally found themselves subject to the same corrective measures, fair warning or not.
Sarah is survived by her children Robert Dean (Bob) Aultman, Darrell Keith Aultman, and Judy Gayle Aultman-Golden; her niece Brenda Carter-Ketchum; and her nephew Ronnie Aultman. She wanted to give a special thanks to Brenda and Ronnie for always being a significant part of the immediate family.
She will be missed, remembered fondly, and probably still keeping everyone in line.
Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Friday, February 6, 2026, at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke, Arkansas, with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens, also in Lonoke. Arrangements entrusted to Boyd Funeral Home.
