Martin “Harold” Childers Jr., passed away on June 22nd, 2025. He was born in El Paso, Texas, but grew up in Des Arc, Arkansas.
A few years after High School, Harold joined the United States Air Force. He served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1973. After the Air Force, he first went to Remington where he became trained as a Machinist. Once he left Remington, he worked as a Machinist at L’Oréal. He was the fourth employee to be hired at the company and worked there for 44 years until he retired in 2016.
Harold was a quiet and soft spoken man, but had a large personality. He spent most of his time outdoors: working in his garden, mowing the lawn, riding his four wheeler, and playing with his dogs. His favorite hobby of all was going deer hunting, especially with his sons. Above all else he loved his family more than anything.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Edith Childers, his sister Melinda Ormsby, and his brother Benjamin Winkler.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Janet Childers, his children Sarah Cox, Robert, Kevin, Kirk, Kyle, and Kayla (Rafael) Childers; three granddaughters Shelbi Cox, Kylie Childers, and Madison Decker; his sister Carolyn Hambrick, brother Jerry (Rosalind) Childers, and many nieces and nephews.
