Louise Faye Scott, was born February 21, 1961 to Betty Jean Givens, in Lonoke, Arkansas, and was embraced into Alberta and Paul Nellum’s family as an infant, where they found a lifetime of love and cherished moments. Louise Faye Scott was called home on July 30, 2023.
Louise’s roots can be traced back to Lonoke, Arkansas, where she attended public schools and graduated from Lonoke High School in 1979. She embraced her faith at an early age at New Zion Baptist Church in Pettus, Arkansas. Following her high school graduation, she pursued higher education at Memphis State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in 1983. Her spiritual journey continued as she became a dedicated member of Mt. Moriah East Baptist Church, led by Pastor Melvin Smith. Her commitment was evident throughout her time there.
Subsequently, Louise relocated to Little Rock, Arkansas, and became a part of First Baptist Church, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, under the guidance of Pastor William Robinson. Later she found a spiritual home at New Hope Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas, where her loyalty as a faithful member and active contributor remained steadfast until her passing.
Louise exemplified unwavering strength and an unwavering commitment to her community. Her impactful contributions extended across numerous boards and committees, such as the American Cancer Society National Board of Directors and Metropolitan Interface Association. Her commitment was evident through her efforts to support the homeless and her coordination of city-wide health fairs.
Through her active involvement with organizations like Delta Sigma Theta, American Cancer Society, Arkansas Department of Health, Arkansas Cancer Coalition, Arkansas Cervical Task Force, Arkansas Cancer Coalition Colon Rectal Cancer Roundtable and Tobacco Prevention Cessation Program. Her role as a Patient Advocate with the NRG Oncology Group, she harnessed her talents and skills to uplift and serve her community in various meaningful ways.
While she didn’t have biological children, her affection for all of her nieces and nephews was boundless. She generously shared words of wisdom with each of them, and her selfless love will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who cherish and were close to her.
She dedicated her time, talents, resources, and affection to others. Her efforts resulted in planting numerous seeds that found fertile ground, and their growth will persist for years ahead.

Louise Faye Scott is survived by, Alice Marie Givens (sister), Dennis Givens (brother), Joseph Trotter (brother), Alice Givens Rufus (aunt/sister), Essie Johnson (aunt/sister), Norma Curlett (aunt/sister), Collins Ray Nellum (brother), Leeo Nellum (brother), Paullester Walker (sister), Nevaeh Yancy (a very special niece), and a huge host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, sorority sisters/brothers, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 12, 2023, at New Hope Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Visitation will be held at Boyd Funeral Home, in Lonoke, Arkansas, 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, August 11, 2023.
