Lonnie Johnston

September 12, 1940 — September 19, 2018

Lonnie F. Johnston went to be with the Lord on September 19, 2018. He was born September 12, 1940 at Vilonia, AR., the baby boy of a family of eight children.

Predeceasing him are his parents, Elmer and Myrtle Johnston, four brothers, Wess, Eugene, Odell, and Bobby and one sister, Mary Pearline Jay.

Left to morn his passing are his wife of 52 years, Patti of Sherwood, and a sister Erkle Jones of Vilonia, a brother Bill of Texas and two sisters-in-law, Sybol and Inge Johnston, both of North Little Rock, and an abundance of nieces and nephews.

Lonnie served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was known to say, “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.”

He was an educator for 40 years. Teaching in North Little Rock and Pulaski County Schools for 31 years and Arkansas State University for nine years.

He loved to travel with Patti and made many trips out of the country, and also enjoyed camping with friends all over the United States.

Lonnie was also a proud Deacon of Levy Baptist Church, North Little Rock.

The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice and Premier Nursing and Rehabilitation for the loving care they gave Lonnie in his final days.

The family will receive friends at Levy Baptist Church from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on September 23, 2018. Service by Bro. Steven Tiner will follow visitation. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m.  Monday, September 24 in Lonoke Cemetery. Online guest book, www.boydfuneralhome.net.
