Lilly Holt

April 1, 1931 — March 21, 2023

Cabot, Arkansas

Lilly Holt (Mother, Mom, & Yaya), 91, of Cabot, peacefully passed March 21st at her daughter’s home. Lilly was born on April 1, 1931, in Agrinio, Greece to George Sakellardiadis and Katerina Triantafyllou Sakellardiadis.

She is survived by her children, Peggy Herndon of Cabot, Lewis Holt III (Tim) of Cabot, Terry Major of Sherwood, and Katerina and Jeff Kassel of Cabot; her grandchildren, Liane Teague (Zak), Mary Beth Major, Justin Major, Amber Gordon (Ryan), April Krummel (Kyle); great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Garrett Teague, Mikayla Galbraith, John Henry Major, and Landyn, Noah, and Chayse Gordon, some of blood and all of love; sister, Anna Triantafyllidis of Athens, Greece; her sister-in-love, Pepper Crisp of Midtholian, TX; nephews, niece, and friends.

Lilly was proceeded in death by her parents; husband of 66 years, Lewis M Holt, Jr.; daughter, Alida Holt; son-in-love, Jac Major; sister, Ellen Sakellardiadis; brother, John Sakellardiadis, and sister-in-love, Dorothy Whilden.

Lilly had a few great loves in her life. First and for most were Lewis, the love of her life, and their family, her chosen country, in which she was proud to become a naturalized citizen in 1953, and her life of an air force wife as she proudly supported Lewis as he served in the USAF for 22 years. She owned her own interior design business, in which she did all the custom draperies and upholstery herself from the mid-70s until the early 2000s, through which time, she decorated a large portion of the homes in Cabot.

Lewis introduced Lilly to fishing and quickly had a fishing partner for life. They enjoyed camping and fishing throughout their 66 years together and enjoyed sharing those times with their family and their friends, many of whom were fellow members of the Arkansas Retired Military Association (ARMA), and it’s ladies’ auxiliary the Armettes, of which Lilly held the position of Chapter President, Vice President, and Treasurer during her 40+ years of membership. She was a Girl Scout leader, a den mother, room mother, and about anything else her children needed.

Lilly had the opportunity to travel to Thailand and China later in life and home to her native country of Greece every few years. She and Lewis traveled throughout Europe and the United States over their years together, making friends wherever they went, which was quite evident during the 50th and 60th anniversary celebrations when each event had over a hundred people travel from coast to coast to take part and honor them.

Lilly was a huge sports fan and Arkansas Razorback fan. She loved watching all college basketball and football along with calling the Hogs. She was an exceptional cook making everything from Southern cuisine to traditional Greek dishes, a fusion of both at times, and everything in between, creating many of her own original and delicious dishes over the years. It was nothing for her to cook for and feed 25 -30 people, and she always had enough extra at any meal for a last-minute guest. If you walked away from Lilly’s table hungry, it was your own darn fault. Lilly hosted holidays, luncheons, and parties and entertained often, filling her home with love and laughter.
