Lewis Underwood

January 19, 1942 — April 13, 2021

Carlisle

Lewis Edwin Underwood passed away peacefully on the evening of April 13, 2021 at home with his wife by his side.

Lewis was born on January 19, 1942 to the late Robert Odie and Mary Underwood of Carlisle, Arkansas.  Lewis was a hard working, simple farmer for all of his life but to some of us he was so much more than just a plain ol’ farmer. He was the loving husband to his wife Elizabeth (Betty). He was a dedicated father to his two boys David and Martin who he taught how to work hard and run the family farm so that way he knew his boys would keep his wonderful legacy alive long after he left his earthly body. He was an amazing Papa to his grandchildren and he would let us all tag along no matter where he was going whether it be to the family farm or out to Betty Lew Ranch (his happy place). He was an even more extravagant Papa Lew to his great grandchildren, who absolutely adore the ground that he walks on. Other than being a farmer, Lewis, was a man who loved to hunt hogs, quail, or spend the day with a pole in his hand going fishing with his boys. He loved to sit at the coffee shop and tell his many hunting, fishing and farming stories for all to hear.

Lewis is preceded in death by: his parents Robert Odie and Mary Underwood of Carlisle, his two brothers Gene Underwood and Kenneth Underwood, his four sisters Audrey Skinner, Elizabeth Hansel, Mary Lee Bowlan and Dorothy Ingle.

Lewis is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Betty) Underwood and his two sons: David (Carolyn) Underwood and Martin (Carla) Underwood all of Carlisle. Papa also leaves behind four grandchildren: Krystal (Stephen) Boyle, Leslie (Josh) Williams, Justin (Brodie) Underwood all of Carlisle and Stacie (Nathan) Murray of Conway. Papa Lew left behind his eleven great grandchildren: Kaleb, Brooke, Gabe, Mason, Grant, Devin, Hailee, Lydia ,Sarah, Scarlett and Addilyn.

He is also survived by one brother Clarence (Dorothy) Underwood of Conway and one sister Francis (David) England of White Bluff, TN.
