Joyce Lee Campbell

August 18, 1940 — June 15, 2025

Lonoke

Joyce Lee (Tenison) Campbell passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025 in Lonoke, Arkansas with her family at her side. Born August 18, 1940 in Carlisle, Arkansas; Joyce's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her commitment to her family, faith, and the countless lives she touched.

Joyce was the beloved wife of Bill Campbell, with whom she shared over 60 years of memories. Together, they raised a family that was her pride and joy. Her legacy continues through her son Tony Campbell (Liz) of Conway, daughter Karen Gibbs (Paul) of Lonoke, and son Bill Campbell Jr. (Sondra) of Lonoke. Joyce's grandchildren—Michael, Alex, Cody, Nikki McPhail (James), Kelsey, Allison Raper (Patrick), and Andrew Gibbs (Amanda)—were the lights of her life, and she cherished every moment with them. Her great-grandchildren Payton, Skylar, Lila Kate, Maggie, Charlie, and Eleanor, along with a host of in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews, brought her immense happiness and were a source of endless pride.

Joyce's journey was one of service and dedication. After graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1978, she shaped the lives of countless children through her 25 years of teaching kindergarten at Lonoke Primary School. Her passion for education and her nurturing spirit left an indelible mark on the community. Additionally, Joyce earned a Bible College Diploma from Faith Bible Institute.

Joyce was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Cabot, and she lived out her faith through her actions and words. While she was physically able, she was a constant presence in her church, offering her musical talents by singing and her creative gifts through various church activities. She discovered a special desire to spread the gospel on mission fields in Greece, Mexico, and the Navajo Nation of New Mexico. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's challenges and joys.

Joyce found joy in shopping, hosting family and friends, gardening, reading, and painting. Each activity was an extension of her vibrant personality and her love for life. However, it was the time spent with family that she cherished above all else. Joyce's home was often filled with the sounds of laughter, the warmth of shared stories, and the love that only a close-knit family can provide.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Kelse and Margaret Tenison, her brothers Alton and Billy Tenison, and her sister Carolyn Jean Arkles.

A celebration of Joyce's life will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Cabot with burial to follow at the Lonoke Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

It is with the deepest gratitude that her family would like to acknowledge special friendships with Christy Jackson Sullivan, Hannah Barnett, and Mariah Henderson of Arkansas Hospice as they cared for Joyce throughout her illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Faith Baptist Church.
