In Loving Memory of James Edward Shavers 

James Edward Shavers, age 77, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, peacefully departed this life in his sleep on Saturday, June 27, 2026. 

His passing was gentle and serene, and he entered into eternal rest surrounded by the love of God. James confessed his faith in Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of Progressive Church PCI in Scott, Arkansas, under the leadership of the late Reverend Van Buren. His love for God and his steadfast faith were evident in the way he lived, loved, and served others.

 James was born on May 16, 1949, to Jesse Shavers and Alberta Carroll, both of whom preceded him in death. Also preceded him in death his sister, Patricia Smith. Also sister, Joyce Mitchell. He was a dedicated employee of the government as a warehouse associate for many years.

Above all, James was a devoted family man. His greatest demonstration of love was the many years he lovingly cared for his mother, Alberta Carroll. As her full-time caregiver, he faithfully attended to her every need with patience, compassion, and selfless devotion, often sacrificing his own personal interests to ensure her comfort and well-being. His unwavering commitment reflected the depth of his love and the strength of his character. James was also a protector and source of strength for his brother and sisters. Whenever they needed him, he was there with a helping hand, wise counsel, and a caring heart. His quiet generosity, loyalty, and willingness to put family first will be remembered by all who knew him. 

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his son, DeWayne Shavers, San Diego, CA; his bonus daughter, Tequila Rice; and four beloved bonus grandchildren, Aaquira Perry, Jase Perry, Skylar Perry, and Taylee Perry, Jacksonville, AR. He is also survived by his loving siblings: Carol McElroy (Kenneth), Lonoke, AR; Linda Arberry,  Charlotte Johnson (Michael), Shanika Shavers, Iesha Shavers and Mark Shavers all of San Diego, California. And a host of nieces and nephews.

The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to Union Valley Missionary Baptist Church for your loving support and for the many ways you helped honor James' life. Also the compassionate staff of Springs of Premier Health and Rehabilitation for the exceptional kindness, care, and dignity they showed James during his time there. Your support and compassion brought comfort to both James and his loved ones. Acknowledgements The family gratefully acknowledges the many expressions of love, kindness, prayers, and sympathy shown during this difficult time. Your comforting words, thoughtful acts, and heartfelt support have lightened our burden and reminded us that we do not grieve alone. May God richly bless each and every one of you for your generosity and love. Thanks for your help and understanding.

An 11:00am-5:00pm come and go visitation will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke, Arkansas. A celebration of Life will begin at 11:00am, Saturday, July 11, 2026, also, at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.
