It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dan F Stowers Jr, who left us on October 30, 2026, at the age of 88. He passed away peacefully in Little Rock, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family.
Born on November 14, 1937, in Little Rock to the late Dan F and Mary Evelyn Stowers, Dan possessed a unique blend of creativity and determination from an early age. He was the “little man of house” while his father served during World War II and this experience made a lifelong impression on him. He went on to channel his talents into a lifelong passion, building a successful career as an architect, taking over his father’s firm, after his untimely death in 1971. Through his work, he literally and figuratively shaped the community around him, leaving behind a tangible legacy of design, integrity, and hard work.
When he wasn’t at his drawing board or managing his business, Dan could almost always be found on the golf course. He loved the game, the camaraderie of his playing partners, and the pursuit of the perfect swing. He played for the Oklahoma State Cowboys, his alma mater, and he won the Riverdale Country Club Men’s Championship in 1965. In his late 70s-early 80’s, he shot his age (or better) more than a few times. Whether celebrating a great round or just enjoying a beautiful day on the green, the fairway was truly his happy place.
His greatest build, however, was the family he loved so deeply. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Sue Martineau Stowers. He is survived by his devoted children, Michael Anthony (Sarita), Christopher Alan (partner, Cameron) and Marti Anne Dush (Dwayne); his cherished grandchildren, Kareena Stowers, Brett Dush and Lukas Dush (Destiny) and Shelby Stowers; his two young great-grandchildren River and Oliver Dush; and a wide circle of friends, colleagues, and golfing buddies who will miss him dearly. He will be remembered for his sharp mind, his entrepreneurial spirit, and his gentle laugh.
A service to honor and celebrate his 88 years of a life well-lived will be held on November 7 at 10:30 am at Concord United Methodist Church, located at 150 Concord Church Rd, Lonoke, AR.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to Hospice Home Care, Concord United Methodist Church, or Concord Cemetery.
