Benjamin Gerald Waddell Sr.

August 30, 1939 — May 7, 2025

Lonoke

Benjamin Gerald Waddell Sr., 85, of Cabot, Arkansas, moved to his heavenly home on May 7, 2025. Born on August 30, 1939, to William T. Waddell and Jewell Estelle Waddell.

Ben was a lifelong resident of Lonoke and a man whose faith, kindness, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, but above all, a faithful servant of the Lord.

Ben was a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he not only worshiped but worked to support and build the church community throughout his life. His faith was the foundation of everything he did. He served as a deacon for 49 years, cooked many meals to feed kids at the church, and spent many hours mowing and caring for the church grounds.

On April 4, 1959, Ben married the love of his life, Eva Mae Morris. Their marriage of over six decades was a testament to devotion, love, and partnership. Together, they raised a family rooted in faith and guided by love.

Ben loved sports, especially rooting on the Razorbacks or cheering on any of his grandchildren in their sporting events. Ben had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing, and found great joy in building and creating—whether it was with his hands or through the legacy he built in the lives of his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he poured his time, attention, and love into each of them.

He is preceded in death by his beloved son and fishing partner, Benjamin Gerald "Gerry" Waddell Jr., his parents William and Jewell, and his siblings Sylvia and Robert. He is survived by his cherished wife, Eva Mae Waddell; his daughter Susan (Ty) Stephens; and his daughter-in-law Verna Waddell. Siblings Melba Bogard of Dallas, Texas, Linda Lord of Springdale, Arkansas, and Tommy Waddell of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

He also leaves behind his four beloved grandchildren: Courtney (Garret) Southerland, Ashley (Weston) Decker, Samantha Stephens, and Hannah Stephens. His legacy continues in his three great-grandchildren: Colton and Aubree Southerland, and Parker Decker. Ben's life was a blessing and his memory a treasure. He was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.

A visitation will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on May 13th at 10:00 with a service to honor and celebrate his life following at 11:00. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
