Barbara Jeanette Houser (Hill), born on November 1, 1945, in Little Rock, AR, passed away on June 20, 2024, in Lonoke, AR surrounded by her loved ones from a lengthy battle of lung disease. She resided at Lonoke Health and Rehab. Barbara was known for her love of reading, playing Yahtzee, collecting Thomas Kincaid artwork, and spending cherished moments with her family. She had a particular fondness for burgers, chicken nuggets, and the music of Elvis Presley. Barbara's favorite flower was the hydrangea, and she shared countless laughs with her sisters, finding joy in their company. She adored her cat Hobbs and attended England High School.
Barbara’s parents, Houston, and Lola Houser raised her alongside her beloved siblings: Betty, Jewel, Dorothy, Pat, Carroll, Judy, and Regina. As a loving mother, Barbara had six children, Kim, Chuck, Dena, Misty, Sara, and Lee. She found pleasure in watching HGTV, Jeopardy, CSI, Wheel of Fortune, and Price is Right with Bob Barker. Barbara had a successful career in public relations and worked as a cashier and at the front desk of Perry's Motel. Barbara is predeceased by her former husband, Jerry Hill of Houston, Arkansas, her former husband Marion Lee Higgins of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and her great granddaughter Kayden Spiers.
Barbara's proudest accomplishments were her children, whom she cherished deeply. She was known for her sense of humor and strong work ethic. Barbara had a talent for recounting family stories, bringing joy and laughter to those around her. Her impact on the lives of others was evident in the love and respect she received from her community. Barbara Jeanette Houser will be dearly missed, but her memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents Houston and Lola Houser of Lonoke; sister Betty Dorsey (Bud) of England; sister Dorothy Wilson; sister Pat Duncan (Doyle) of Memphis; brother Carroll Houser (Margaret) of North Little Rock; son Charles Houser of Jacksonville. She is survived by sister Jewel Miller of Furlow; sister Judy Hocutt of Lonoke; sister Regina Cox of Modesto, CA.; her best friend, Marie Lane, her children Kim Houser (Stephen Tompkins) of Searcy; Dena Houser of Lonoke; Melissa McDurmont (Shawn) of Lonoke; Sara Leigh Ann Higgins of Lonoke; Marion Lee Higgins of Clinton. Grandchildren Kali Roberts of Searcy; Caleb Roberts (Brianna) of Bradenton, FL; Elijah Simpfenderfer of Searcy; Lola Simpfenderfer of Coloma, MI; Jessica Spiers of Lonoke; Heather Eskew of Lonoke; Michael Nelson (Shaynna) of Sheridan; Heath Nelson of Lonoke; Nikki Cox (Cameron) of Jonesboro; Amee Sinkey (Chase) of England; Sydnee Case of Lonoke; Sara Case of Lonoke. Great grandchildren Eva Roberts of Searcy, Nicolas Spires of Lonoke, Coraline Spires of Lonoke, Kylie Eskew, Seth Eskew, Isaiah Eskew all of Lonoke, Hudson Cox of Jonesboro, Reef Roberts of Bradenton, FL, Harlyn Cox of Jonesboro, Nora Nelson of Sheridan, Ophelia Throckmorton of Searcy, Jett Nelson of Sheridan, Isla Roberts of Bradenton, FL.
A memorial service will be held at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke, June 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
